Sponsor Spotlight — A Free Spirit Life
This week our Sponsor Spotlight shines on Shannon Kinney-Duh and A Free Spirit Life.
Shannon Kinney-Duh is a mother, artist, yoga teacher and holistic life mentor. She created A Free Spirit Life as a place of inspiration, celebration and wellness. She writes about creativity, mothering, and living an authentic life. And she offers e-courses world-wide like Inside Out: A Creative Adventure of Self-Discovery and Mothering with heART.
The 7th session of Inside Out starts September 10th.
Here is what Shannon says about her incredible e-course.
The more I learn and grow, the more I want to share with others. So for me, Inside Out is the culmination of my life’s searching, reflecting, exploring and discovering. I’ve combined my love and appreciation for the creative process, art, writing, journaling, yoga and meditation into this e-course as tools for self-awakening. I know from experience that only so much can change when we start externally. The real change, the deep change, the ever-lasting change–the kind that breaks cycles, thought patterns and self-sabotaging behaviors–happens when we start from the INSIDE and work OUT.
I (Kelly) can personally attest to the power of Inside Out. It is an amazing journey in self discovery and creativity. I have taken the course two times and it has changed my life. Seriously. Working with Shannon, her incredible coursework, and connecting with amazing like-minded women in the online community that accompanies the course opened my heart and helped awaken my truest self. Inside Out helped me to see myself as a creative woman and helped me to not only see my potential but to wholeheartedly go after it and create a life I love. Here’s what others have had to say about Inside Out.
Shannon is generously offering a spot in her upcoming Inside Out e-course to one Sparrow Reader!
Leave a comment telling us your favorite way to be creative. We will randomly select one lucky winner of a Free spot in the next session of Inside Out.
Comments will close Sunday April 9th at Midnight EST. We will announce the lucky winner here on the blog and on our Facebook page.

My favorite way to be creative right now is sewing on paper…it’s my meditation…also making up yoga sequences as I’m soon to be a certified yoga teacher!
Being a stay-at-home mom I find ways to be creative all day by inventing impromptu games for the kids, creating clever ways to have them help out, being creative with food, playing outside and exploring in the woods. For me personally, I’ve just started painting and am loving it!
My favorite way to get creative is to help others with their homes. Whether it is re-organizing, re-decorating, painting, moving furniture, clearing stuff out…it doesn’t matter. Doing this kind of creative work really energizes me.
How fab. Knitting is my creative outlet, my relaxation and my meditation.
Happy Easter x
We’re moving into a new home! I’m finally taking the opportunity to paint and decorate and make it ours before we move in next week and begin the day-to-day there. My giant real-life canvas!
I Love to paint, furniture mostly but could easily be inspired to paint just about anything. I enjoy knitting (usually reserved for the winter months), drawing with my kids, I Love to read. My problem is time. I never feel like I have enough time to do mush of the above. But given the opportunity, I will easily lose myself in a project. Perhaps it is my escape from the disfunction of everyday life.
Thank you so much for your amazing magazine. I always look forward to reading it. Perhaps someday I will lead the balanced life of those that I so admire.
Thanks for keeping me focused!!
My favorite way to be creative lately is with watercolors, or loose but complicated doodling, almost like zentangles, but on huge pieces of paper over extended stretches of time.
Some ways I like to be creative are photography, painting, doodling, knitting, creating an art project with geometric patterns, volunteering/mentoring at a grade school or going to a craft store walking around and finding something new to try.
My favorite way to be creative is building driftwood sculptures on a nearly deserted beach by our camp. We are always surprised because we never know what we are creating until it’s there!
Whenever I have an idea I’d like to execute, I go straight to my camera and see what magic I can make happen!
Fav way to be creative is to come up with yoga sequences for the classes I teach…finding quotes to read in class and working on music playlists for class…helps me escape my full time job…
I make cards. I have other creative outlets but this is my favourite because I focus on the receiver as I make the card and also everyone loves getting mail that isn’t ‘just’ a bill or advertisement
My favorite way to be creative is to cut up magazines, catalogs or photos to create inspiration boards. I use these to brainstorm ideas for projects, visualize goals or just to make something beautiful.
I love creative journalling! I cut out words or phrases or pictures and stick them on pages and do free writing about the symbolism of it. I make them for others too, and it’s so interesting what comes out! Especially when you pick words randomly, we can make meaning out of anything is we let our creativity take hold
